Polaris Trainer
- Developing training materials.
- Interacting with customers via telephone, email, and web conferencing.
- Traveling to customer sites to conduct live training.
- Coordinating training sessions, including facilities, materials, and staff resources.
- Providing workflow and functionality consultation to selected accounts.
- Continuously maintaining knowledge and proficiency with the Polaris Integrated Library Systems and related software applications.
- Interacting with Polaris Library Systems staff to troubleshoot software and data problems encountered during training or training preparation.
- Providing regular project updates to company management.
- Assisting Polaris Library Systems staff in activities related to the testing, training, documentation, release, and deployment of Polaris ILS applications.
- Continuously maintaining knowledge and proficiency with the Polaris Integrated Library Systems and related software applications.
- Oversee new and existing software application installations.
- Serve as the project manager and team leader for contract software implementations at public, academic, and special libraries primarily located through the United States and Canada.
- Work directly with customers to establish policy and profile settings required to configure Polaris workflows to satisfy customer requirements.
- Proven ability to work on multiple long-term projects simultaneously and at various stages of completion.
- Demonstrate project management and/or staff management experience.
- Understanding of the MARC standard for bibliographic data.
- MLS or related degree, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years previous working experience with integrated library systems.
- Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Ability to travel on assignments ranging from 1-5 days on a periodic basis.
- Duties include formulating strategy, developing proposals, and closing new sales for the Polaris Integrated Library System.
- Key attributes of the successful candidate are initiative and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-selling environment.
- MLS preferred. A minimum of 3 years experience in consultative relationship selling required. Outstanding presentation skills also required. Previous ILS vendor experience highly desirable. Must be available for travel to conferences and library sites.
- Excellent base salary and commission structure.
- Residency in Syracuse area not required.
- Duties include helping to develop and maintain a highly configurable enterprise level, client/server system. Developers have the flexibility to work on the user interface, business logic, and database. Corporate focus on customer satisfaction occasionally requires interaction with customer support staff and clients to analyze and solve problems.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science and minimum 2 years' experience programming with Visual C++ and Visual C# using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 required. Experience also required with Microsoft SQL Server and MFC, ATL, Win32 APIs, Web Services and .NET Framework v2.0.
