Syracuse, NY, October 14, 2010 - Polaris Library Systems, a leading provider of library automation
technology, announced today that the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries, based in Columbus, Georgia, selected the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS). The Polaris ILS will replace the library's SirsiDynix Horizon system. "Polaris offers sophisticated collection management tools that will enable us to increase library efficiency and better serve our patrons," said LaShawn Wilson, project director for the Libraries. "In particular, Polaris's managed floating collections capability automatically moves materials to meet patron demand, which will free up valuable staff time and save the library time and money. Improvements in overall staff client functionality will also help us streamline services to the community." A regional library system, the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries serve west central Georgia with eight library locations. The Libraries recently received a grant to launch a high-tech, mobile library to serve individuals in three rural counties who have limited access to technology and transportation. The mobile library will provide access to library materials, job and tax resources, and satellite broadband access via six computer workstations. "The Chattahoochee Valley Libraries are incredibly focused on developing and delivering services to meet the needs of their communities," said Polaris President and CEO Bill Schickling. "We are thrilled to partner with them to be part of their efforts to connect their libraries and library resources with the communities they serve." ###
