“It's great to be able to customize the Polaris checkout screen with patron data elements of our choice.  It maximizes the efficiency of the checkout process.  And with 15 agencies circulating over 7.1 million items per year, it matters.”

- Eva Calcagno, Manager, Washington County Cooperative Library Services, Oregon

Forsyth County Public Library Selects Polaris ILS

Syracuse, NY, November 5, 2009 - Polaris Library Systems, a leading provider of library automation technology, announced today that Forsyth County Public Library (FCPL) in Georgia has selected the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS). The Polaris ILS will replace the library's SirsiDynix Horizon system.

"Polaris rose to the top with respect to functionality, value and reputation," said Cheryl Morgan, Assistant Director for Information Technology at Forsyth County Public Library. "Whereas other ILS systems that we evaluated appeared to offer us a step side-ways at best, the Polaris ILS offers us a giant leap forward in the functionality we desire."

"We are thrilled that Forsyth Public Library has selected Polaris," said Bill Schickling, Polaris President & CEO. "Forsyth is focused on leveraging the Polaris ILS to provide an outstanding patron experience and streamline workflow. We look forward to a strong partnership."

About Forsyth County Public Library:
When its doors first opened in 1938, the Forsyth County Public Library had a modest 600 volume collection. By early 2010, when its third branch opens, FCPL will have grown to house 300,000 items. Its 73,300 active borrowers checked out 1.5 million items last year. The library has been ranked first in Georgia five times in the past seven years in the Hennen American Public Library report (HAPLR), and HAPLR currently lists it in the top twelve Southeastern libraries.
