Streamlines Search Capability for Patrons & Staff Syracuse, NY, July 14, 2010 - Polaris Library Systems, a leading provider of library automation technology, announced today that Polaris ILS will provide auto-suggest functionality in the Polaris ILS 4.0 release. Auto-suggest provides a Google-like search experience for staff and patrons. Suggestions automatically appear as the user types a search term, making it quicker and easier to find what you're looking for. Auto suggestions are context sensitive; that is, they are specific to the field the user is searching ( e.g., author, title). In the staff client, this functionality also extends to patron searching (e.g., patron name, address, etc.). Suggested searches are derived from data in the library's catalog and are based on relevancy rankings. Auto-suggest is available in both the staff client and the Polaris PowerPAC. Customers can choose whether or not to enable the functionality, and end users also have the ability to hide or show suggestions during their session. Auto-suggest will be available to Polaris customers in the Polaris ILS 4.0 release, planned for this fall. "Polaris has chosen to integrate this next-generation catalog functionality into our core product, rather than developing and selling an add-on discovery interface," said Polaris Chief Information Officer Jim Mieczkowski. "In these challenging economic times, Polaris is proud to help libraries offer more services to patrons and staff, without additional strain on budgets." ### About Polaris Library Systems:
