“It's great to be able to customize the Polaris checkout screen with patron data elements of our choice.  It maximizes the efficiency of the checkout process.  And with 15 agencies circulating over 7.1 million items per year, it matters.”

- Eva Calcagno, Manager, Washington County Cooperative Library Services, Oregon

Miami-Dade Public Library System Selects Polaris ILS

Syracuse, NY, July 30, 2009 - Polaris Library Systems, a leading provider of library automation technology, announced today that Miami-Dade Public Library System has selected the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS). The Polaris ILS will replace Miami-Dade's SirsiDynix Horizon system.

According to Phyllis Sue Alpert, Assistant Director, "Miami-Dade is excited to be migrating to the Polaris System, which was selected after a careful, thorough analysis of the industry. Polaris understands public libraries and has an easy-to-use system and cooperative partnership attitude that best meets Miami-Dade's needs."

Miami-Dade Public Library System consists of forty-seven branch locations and four bookmobiles, and serves over seven million visitors each year. Patrons have access to more than 3.5 million books and materials, 1,500 public computers, 117 self-checkout machines, Wi-Fi at every location, and a wide range of digital resources, including downloadable e-books, audio books, music, and videos. In 2008, the system earned the National Medal for Museum and Library Services, the nation?s highest honor for museums and libraries.

"Miami-Dade Public Library System is a world-class library with a strong commitment to outstanding customer service," said Polaris President & CEO Bill Schickling. "We're thrilled the library system has selected Polaris as their automation partner."
